## Accessible by design: ready for the European Accessibility Act
Since **28 June 2025**, the European Accessibility Act applies to websites, mobile apps, and e-commerce services sold in the EU. This is not a niche concern. Eurostat data puts the number of EU adults living with a disability at **roughly 101 million, one in four**. Accessibility is simultaneously a legal requirement and the largest underserved audience most products have.
We design to **WCAG 2.1 AA** from the first wireframe: contrast, keyboard navigation, focus states, semantic structure, and readable type scales. Retrofitting accessibility after launch routinely costs more than designing for it once, correctly.
## Where AI fits in our workflow
We use AI where it is genuinely fast: exploration, variant generation, production assets. Judgment stays human. Which flow serves the business, which trade-off respects the user, which detail breaks trust. The industry data supports the split: efficiency up sharply, reliability still short of shippable.
