### One line, two readings

The mark traces the silhouette of the centre’s own building in a single line. Turned upright, it reads as the letter A: Anna Adamis, the lyricist the house is named after.

### #2 nationwide

The town ran an open, nationwide competition for the centre’s new identity. Our entry took second place: a complete design manual, from logo system and bilingual applications to signage, web, and merchandising.

### Drawing the home of culture

Kolárovo, a town on the Little Danube in southern Slovakia, lives in two languages; most of its people call it Gúta. Its cultural centre has been the home of that life since 1974: theatre hall, library, café, and rotunda under one roof. In 2023, with the building’s fiftieth anniversary approaching, the town gave that roof a new name. Anna Adamis was born in Gúta in 1943, was three when her family was expelled to Hungary in the postwar population exchange, and grew up to write the lyrics of Omega and Locomotiv GT, work that earned her the Kossuth Prize, Hungary’s highest honour for the arts. Naming the house of culture after her was the town’s way of bringing her home. A new name needed a new face, so the municipality and the centre announced an open, nationwide competition for the logo and complete visual identity. We entered.

Our concept begins with the building itself. The mark draws the centre’s silhouette, the slanted roofline every local walks past, in one unbroken line. Stood on its end, the same shape becomes an A, her initial. Read it a third way and it is simply a house: the family house of the town’s culture, as our presentation puts it. We built the [mark](https://opulon.org/services/branding) to carry more than the logo: it opens into illustration, pattern, and poster compositions, and stays legible at the size of a stamp.

The identity speaks both of the town’s languages as equals: Hungarian and Slovak share every lockup, VMK and MsKS cover the small sizes, and an English version stands ready for guests. For the building’s own doors we drew a set of supplementary logos in which the interior of the house redraws itself for each space: shelves for the library, an empty hall for the theatre, an arch for the Libresso, a circle for the rotunda. One drawing becomes wayfinding, a poster series, or a targeted ad for a single service. Around it we set near-black, deep burgundy, and a warm red on a pale sage ground, chose Lexend Deca and Roboto for the typography, and documented the whole [identity](https://opulon.org/services/branding) in a bilingual [design manual](https://opulon.org/services/graphic-design). Inside it: stationery and a stamp, invitation and presentation templates, newsletter and email, the website and social profiles, signage, a poster line that says it plainly in three languages (Domov kultúry, Home of culture, A kultúra othona), and merchandising from coffee cups to deck chairs to the market tent.

The jury placed our entry second in the nationwide field. The winning design is the one on the facade today; ours stayed in the manual, finished from construction grid to coffee cup, and we publish it here gladly. It shows how we build a [brand](https://opulon.org/services/branding): find the shape a town already knows, and let it carry everything else.
